On Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at USC Ronald Tutor Campus Center, 54 youngsters from the ages of 5-16 played the "Game of Kings" in an Invitational Chess Tournament. Chess teams from the Playa Vista Public Library Chess Club, Train of Thought Chess Club, and the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica Chess Club applied their intellectual skills in a test of mental competition in a prestigious university setting. Sponsors of the event included the Friends of Playa Vista Public Library, the Commercial Real Estate Committee of the Beverly Hills/Greater LA Assn. of REALTORS®, the Boys & Girls Club of Venice, and Aloha Royal Hawaiian Realty, Inc.; with the support & cooperation of USC Ronald Tutor Campus Center, USC Recreational Sports, and Damen Fletcher, Executive Director, Train of Thought Chess Club. The tournament was overwhelmingly well received by the participants, parents, and hosts; with plans already in place for a subsequent event! Respectfully submitted - Ben Eubanks, Tournament Director
